 Event Details

This event is a "scaled-down" version of Wa Sung Community Service Club's annual food & wine-tasting fundraiser which, for the past 10 years, typically draws over 600 food & wine connoisseurs from across the state. This year's event may be a little intimate for those used to attending events like our "A Chef's Delight" that literally featured a cast of thousands in a palatial setting. http://www.wasungserviceclub.org/achefsdelight.htm

It will be held at the Aroma Restaurant right off the Park Street Bridge, by the waterfront, in Alameda. The size & location of this year's venue has made it necessary to limit participation to a maximum of 200 people, so tickets will only be available on a first-come, first served basis.

We will be pairing signature small plates (Tapas) from selected Bay Area fine restaurants and caterers with premium libations from local wineries and microbreweries. Although this year's event may not be quite as extravagant as the "Chef's Delight" events of previous years, the ticket price will be substantially lower too. This way its easier on the pocketbook in these uncertain economic times. At only $40 per person, these will go fast.

There will also be doorprizes hourly drawings and souvenir giveaways.

All proceeds will benefit the Wa Sung Charity Fund, so the cost of your ticket may be tax-deductible. Wa Sung Community Service Club is a 56 -year-old nonprofit, 501C-3 volunteer organization based in Oakland, California. www.wasungserviceclub.org.

About Wa Sung Community Service Club

The Wa Sung Service Club has been active as a service organization for over 54 years. Funds for community services are derived from fund raising projects including the annual Easter Pancake Breakfast, the East Bay Community Directory, our annual food and wine event and direct donations. Wa Sung annually contributes monetary support to the annual Merit/Scholarship awards, Community Charity grants, and Educational grants.

Organization of the Wa Sung Service Club began with the disbanding of the Wa Sung Baseball team in Oakland's Chinatown in 1938 and the reorganization of its members as the Wa Sung Service Club in 1953 to perform charitable and educational services in the community and to promote goodwill, understanding and friendship amongst its citizens.

Since it's inception, Wa Sung has grown from a small group to its current membership of over 200. Its roster includes professionals, business persons, and other diversified occupations. Membership fees are collected annually to support the administrative functions. Every successful organization must be endowed with an essential creed, a purposeful goal in order to create mutual interest amongst its members. Our goal is service to the community.

The Club was formally incorporated as a Non-Profit Corporation under the laws of the State of California on May 31, 1960. In 1968,the Club established the Wa Sung Charity Fund which was classified by the IRS as an organization described in section 501 (c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Contributions made to the trust are deductible by donors as provided in section 170 of the Code. Federal Tax Exempt Status: Qualified as tax-exempt by IRS and State of California Trust Federal ID#: 94-6182703

Monies raised for the Wa Sung Charity Fund in previous years also went toward the purchase of 560 American Heritage dictionaries that were distributed to third grade students in six elementary schools in low - income areas. These funds also supported the library program for the Junior Center for Art and Science, as well as projects for the Donald P. McCullum Youth Court program for at-risk youth.
